Sending Personalized Emails to a Large Group of People Through Google Mail Merge

The Problem

A Delegate Solutions client was consistently sending out similar, templated emails to various recipients on his contact list. He often needed to send out these emails, which would include newsletters or weekly updates, to larger amounts of people. With using his current mass mailing service, few recipients were opening these emails. Additionally, emails tended to land in the receiver’s spam or junk folder because it was noted - by the inbox itself - as sent from a mass mailing type of service.

The Solution

The solution to the client’s email concerns was to enlist the free service of Google Mail Merge.
As a plugin installed to the client’s Google Drive, our team was able to send out mass emails to groups of recipients for free, as long as the receiving count was less than 50. In terms of the mailing itself, the email is sent to the individual, not as just an email address in a mass mail group. This caused less filtering from the inbox and less diversion of the emails to the recipient's spam folder.

The Result

The immediate result of using this technology was recipient replies. Recipients were much more
likely to actually see the email, note that it was sent from one individual (the client), and felt
inclined to respond. When the recipients started to proactively reply to these emails sent via
Mail Merge, the client and our team recognized immediately that they had a new, preferred
platform for sending out mass emails.

Should the client need to send out more than the daily allotted amount for the free plugin - 50
emails a day - he can upgrade the premium version. Our team found that the premium
version offers up to 1500 recipients a day and email tracking (which reports the email is actually
read) for a one time fee of 30 dollars.

How We Helped

In finding this alternative to a mass mailing service, our team was able to provide the client
with a personalized avenue for addressing his recipients, as well as a decrease in necessary
follow up (as the client’s recipients were actually emailing back, eliminating the client’s need to
reach back out). On top of that, the client’s new platform for mass mailing didn’t cost him a
single cent. The client no longer has to spend time or cost ensuring his emails were received
and read, but instead, this personalized approach allows him to rest assured.
