Just because summer is winding down, doesn’t mean your dreams of a vacation have to escape with it! You are at the heart of your business, and you set the tone for the rest of your team to create time and space to rejuvenate and re-charge. As entrepreneurial leaders, it’s so easy to get wrapped up in the “rugged individualist” persona, because it’s true: we make stuff happen better than most. Unfortunately, this mindset comes at a cost to our personal lives, our health and our other aspirations. It’s important to be aware of this dynamic, lead by example and take some time off! It doesn’t have to be scary or painful if you commit to a bit of planning and prep prior to your departure from the office.
Living the Flexwork Dream … at Delegate!
When we think about working remotely, and what it means to our work/life balance, a number of thoughts come to mind. It’s awesome to have flexibility in our career, create our own schedule and have freedom and autonomy to make it our own day. For morning people, we get up early and are hard at work before the sun comes up and for those of us who are night owls, we quiet the chaos of the day and settle in to work during the peaceful moments when everyone else is asleep. Juggling kids, chores and commitments of daily life, all while making money, is an art form; one that we at Delegate thrive on and LOVE.
Happy Friday and Happy Holidays! One of my goals for 2017 was to ENJOY DECEMBER! Sounds funny, but December has always been an incredibly stressful month for me personally. For the last decade, Christmas has always taken a backseat to other priorities like celebrating my son's birthday, holiday planning for Delegate, all of this on top of the normal holiday stress. So I created a plan of how I can make sure I enjoy this beautiful month.. so far so good! I'll update you in January as to how I did and hopefully share my strategy for success! :)
The Cost of Churn in Small Business
Another summer is now in the books, and wow, what an intense summer it's been for us here at Delegate. My team has been pushed to the max as we’ve navigated some really tricky stuff! Collectively, we showed up and pulled together as a team to help out. I’m proud and grateful for each of my team members!
As an entrepreneur, finding and retaining talent is one of the most crucial parts of growing your business. Because we have small teams, getting it right equates to growth and getting it wrong leads down a cyclic path of lost energy spent hiring, training and re-training.
