The Problem
Our team has been working remotely since the beginning (give or take 12 years), but with the COVID19 Pandemic, we wanted a way to connect in a non-stress, casual and fun way. Of course, being strictly remote, we rely on Zoom Meetings for our day to day calls with one another and with our clients, but give the fact that we have all been “social distancing” for weeks, we decided to have some fun on Zoom with a virtual Happy Hour at the end of business on Friday.
The Solution
Zoom is an amazing tool that we rely on daily, but we don’t normally get to utilize some of the fun features (virtual backgrounds, hello?!?), and this virtual Happy Hour gave us a chance to do just that, as well as connecting with one another “outside” of work, which we literally NEVER get the chance to do.

The Result
Our Zoom Happy Hour was a blast. We had nearly 100% attendance across the team and we got the chance to chat, play games and connect in a meaningful way outside of work, even though we are literally spread out across the country.
How Can it Work For You?
Now that your team is dispersed into remote locations, try rallying the troops with a fun Zoom call. Incorporate games such as ice-breakers, fun virtual backgrounds, and, if your culture allows, a BYOB policy! As much as possible, try to keep “work talk” out of this call and just let your people connect and share. You’ll be surprised how much fun you/they will have, and it just might give you the morale boost your organization needs right now!
